Following the execution of political prisoner Mojahid Kourkour, political prisoners in the women’s ward and Ward 4 of Evin Prison held protests to express their outrage and condemnation.
Mojahed Kourkour was from Izeh, in Khuzestan Province. He was executed in the early hours of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.
The protest began during the outdoor time, when news of Kourkour’s execution reached the prisoners. Outraged by the news, the political prisoners in the women’s ward and Ward 4 observed a minute of silence, in memory of Mojahed Kourkour.
The prisoners wrote the slogan “No to Execution” on the prison yard floor and raised handwritten signs with the same message.
The protest escalated as prisoners chanted powerful slogans against capital punishment and the ruling regime: “We swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,” “The Execution Republic must be destroyed,” “Even if our heads and lives go, Freedom shall never go,” “In unison with the same pledge, we will stand to the end to abolish the death penalty.”

Execution of Mojahed Kourkour
Mojahed Kourkour, a political prisoner from Izeh, was arrested during the nationwide protests of 2022. During his detention, he was subjected to severe torture and later sentenced to death following a brief trial that lacked due process.
The regime falsely accused him of killing Kian Pirfalak, a child whose death became a symbol of the uprising. However, Kian’s parents have consistently rejected this accusation, stating that it was security forces who opened fire on their vehicle, leading to their son’s death.
Kourkour’s execution was carried out at dawn on June 10, 2025, in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz — the same day as Kian Pirfalak’s birthday.
