The 30th week of the “Tuesdays Against Executions” campaign was observed on August 20, 2024, across 18 prisons in Iran. This initiative saw participation from the women’s wards of Evin Prison and Lakan Prison in Rasht, as well as female prisoners from various other facilities, all advocating for an end to executions in Iran.
The campaign persists as the clerical regime has executed 118 prisoners in the past month alone, bringing the total number of executions since March 20, 2024, to 310, including political detainees. Among those executed since March, at least 16 have been women.
On the occasion of the 30th week of their hunger strike, Iranian prisoners issued a statement calling on Dr. Mai Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, to confront the inhumane practices such as the widespread use of the death penalty in Iran and to work towards ending this brutal practice.
