Another nurse from the nursing community, nicknamed Iran’s angels, suffered a stroke and went into a coma due to extreme fatigue and high work pressure in continual shifts while treating patients with coronavirus.
Sara Azizi was a nurse at the Khanevadeh Hospital in Tehran, who died at the age of 28 as one of Iran’s angels serving her compatriots.
Nurses or Iran’s angels are among the first occupations to be exposed to the highest incidence of coronavirus. Their hard work and exhaustion due to the severe shortage of nurses in Iran have put their lives and health under daily threat.
The head of Zanjan’s nursing system, Fereydoun Eskandari said, “Simultaneous with the spread of coronavirus in the province, about 50 nurses in public and private hospitals are infected with the coronavirus.” He also spoke about the poor conditions of society and the prevalence of coronavirus and said, “We have not yet reached the stage of controlling coronavirus. Seventy percent of the medical staff in hospitals are nurses and providing services to patients these days has exhausted them, so the peak of the disease can be catastrophic.”
He also spoke about the demands of nurses and said, “Nurses are seeking compensation from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. In this regard, insurance companies talk about paying all the demands to the University of Medical Sciences. But in practice this is not the case.” (The state-run IRNA news agency – April 22, 2020)
Also, on April 24, 2020, the official Entekhab newspaper quoted Ali Akbari, a member of the regime’s parliament as saying, “The prevalence of coronavirus in Fars Province has been increasing over the past 10 days. There is a concern that the medical staff will suffer from fatigue and exhaustion due to the prolongation of the disease.”
According to the statistics by the Iranian Resistance, as of Friday, April 24, 2020, the death toll of coronavirus victims in 297 cities is more than 34,700.
