Based on a report from Iran’s statistics center, the unemployment rate of young women in the country’s urban areas in 24 provinces reached over 50% last summer.
The unemployment rate of young women in 11 provinces is 60%, in 8 provinces 70% and in 3 provinces over 80%.
The unemployment rate of women is 4 times greater than the country’s overall unemployment rate. This is while the number of female university students exceeds the male student population.

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
