Women’s arrests in different cities across Iran continued in recent days alongside the issuance of judicial sentences and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding some detainees.
These cases encompass a wide range of situations, from the arrests of female athletes, a physician, and family members of protest victims to prison and flogging sentences. This report covers only a selection of cases reported in recent days and does not include all cases involving women who were arrested or sentenced during this period.
Women’s Arrests in Different Cities
In recent days, reports have emerged of women’s arrests in various parts of the country. In Iranshahr, Shahnaz Kordi, a 46-year-old mother of six, was arrested and transferred to prison after appearing before a court. Her family has stated that the arrest was linked to the case of her son, who is being sought by the authorities.
Also, Aida Qaderi, a 20-year-old swimming instructor and athlete from Saqqez, was arrested by Intelligence Ministry agents and taken to an undisclosed location. According to reports, she was arrested at home without the presentation of a judicial warrant.
In another case, Rozhan Ebrahimi, an MMA athlete from Saqqez, was arrested after Intelligence Ministry agents raided her family home. At the time of writing, no information had been released about her place of detention or the charges brought against her.
Mona Mahmoudian, the wife of Ebrahim Mostafapour, who was killed during the nationwide protests of January 2026, was also arrested in Babol and transferred to an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, Bayan Salehian, a physician based in Urmia, has remained in detention since September 27, 2026, and reports indicate that she continues to face judicial uncertainty.
Prison and Flogging Sentence for a woman in Ardabil
In a separate development, Sahar Mamizadeh has been sentenced by the Ardabil Revolutionary Court to a total of 25 months and 15 days of discretionary imprisonment as well as 50 lashes. According to the ruling, the charges against her include propaganda activities, insulting officials of the ruling clerical establishment, and disrupting public order.
Concerns Over the Situation of Some Detainees
Maryam Goodini, a 20-year-old resident of Fardis, Karaj, who was arrested during the nationwide protests of 2026, remains held at a detention facility known as “Karaj Intelligence.” No detailed information has been made public regarding the charges against her or the current status of her case.
The young woman has reportedly been subjected to severe physical and psychological pressure during interrogations and has endured torture and physical abuse. She is also suffering from ongoing health problems and continuous bleeding as a result of injuries sustained under torture.
Interrogators reportedly shaved her head in an effort to force a confession. To intensify the psychological pressure on her, she has been kept in solitary confinement and deprived of contact with her family.
