Behnaz Mahjoubi, the sister of Behnam Mahjoubi—a Gonabadi dervish who died in custody in February 2021- was arrested by Iranian security forces in the city of Kerman on Saturday, June 28, 2025, and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Plainclothes security agents detained Behnaz Mahjoubi at her workplace without presenting a court order and without informing her family.

Batoul Hosseini, Behnaz Mahjoubi’s mother, confirmed the arrest in a statement and said the family remains in the dark about her daughter’s condition and location.
She expressed concern for her daughter’s heart condition and held the Ministry of Intelligence, the IRGC Intelligence Organization, and the Judiciary of Kerman responsible for any harm that may come to her.
Behnam Mahjoubi, her brother, was arrested following the 2018 crackdown on the Gonabadi dervishes at Golestan-e Haftom in Tehran. After months of imprisonment, psychological pressure, and denial of medical care, he died in custody in February 2021.
