Zahra Bani Amerian, 48, a mother and a retired employee of Iran’s Social Security Organization, was killed on January 9, 2026, during popular protests in Karaj.
Zahra Bani Amerian was shot dead inside her vehicle alongside her husband, Bijan Mostafavi, 55, a retired employee of Iran’s Ministry of Education, and their son, Danial Mostafavi, 19, a computer science student, after security forces opened fire on their car.
Reports indicate that the family’s eldest son, Davoud Mostafavi, was also targeted while inside the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. His current condition remains unknown.
The family was originally from Sonqor, in Kermanshah Province, and had been residing in Karaj.
