Nasrin Hassani, the managing editor of Siyahat-e Sharq weekly publication, was summoned on Sunday, February 4, 2024, to serve her seven-month sentence in prison.
Nasrin Hassani is from Bojnourd, the capital of the Northern Khorasan Province, in northeastern Iran.
In December, Branch 103 of the Criminal Court 2 of Bojnourd County convicted Ms. Hassani of disseminating falsities and sentenced her to seven months in jail. She was also fined one million Tomans for failing to observe the compulsory Hijab in public.
Nasrin Hassani was arrested in September 2022, during the Iran Uprising, but was later temporarily released on bail.
Ms. Hassani is the sole guardian of her 13-year-old son. In a video message to the people of Iran, she said, “My seven months in jail is nothing compared to the cost the people of Iran endured during the 2022 protests for freedom and democracy.”
