Maryam Ameri, an Arab cultural activist, was arrested and detained by security forces in Ahvaz during a raid on her residence, according to recent reports.
Her arrest took place amid a spree of arrests launched by the regime on the eve of the anniversary of the uprising last year on September 16, 2022.
Ms. Ameri collected Arab stories, lullabies, and songs from villages. There is no information available on the reason for the arrest of Maryam Ameri and the charges against her.
Maryam Ameri had been previously arrested on December 10, 2020, in a similar manner when intelligence forces raided her residence. She was temporarily released on bail after a month of detention.
Nazila Maroofian violently arrested again
In another development, it was reported that Nazila Maroofian has been arrested again.
Security forces broke into her residence in Tehran on Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023, and violently took her away. The prosecutor has set a bail of 2 billion Tomans for her temporary release.

Nazila Maroofian, a student at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabai University and a young journalist for Rouydad 24, was arrested on October 30, 2022, by order of the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office based in Evin Prison in Tehran.
She was arrested for publishing her interviews with the father of Mahsa Amini on the Rouydad 24 website in October and November 2022. She was confined in Ward 209 of Evin. She was eventually transferred to Qarchak Prison and released on bail after a while.
