The lives of two PMOI/MEK prisoners with heart conditions are in danger. Political prisoners Zahra Safaei and Somayyeh Qoraishi, both suffer from serious heart problems. The lives of these two women are in danger.
The two PMOI/MEK prisoners have been deprived of proper medical treatment and care. The clerical regime’s prison authorities have turned down their request for leave or conditional release.
Political prisoner Zahra Safaei
Political prisoner Zahra Safaei is in critical conditions in the notorious Qarchak Prison.
After having a heart attack and undergoing heart surgery, she cannot endure prison conditions.
On August 31, 2021, Zahra Safaei had a heart stroke. The Qarchak Prison authorities hindered her transfer to a civic hospital where she later underwent a heart surgery.
Zahra Safaei remains in a cell alongside ordinary inmates in violation of the principle of the separation of crimes.
Enticed by the prison’s warden, dangerous criminals in Qarchak threatened to kill Zahra Safaei several times.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN Secretary General, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Human Rights Council, the UNSRs and other international human rights organizations to send a delegation to Iran to visit the clerical regime’s prisons and meet with prisoners, particularly the political prisoners.
Political prisoner Somayyeh Qoraishi
Political prisoner Somayyeh Qoraishi has been detained in the women’s ward of the Central Prison of Urmia for a year.
During her time in detention, she had a divorce. She has a sick child, but prison authorities have refused to release or grant her medical leave.
Somayyeh Qoraishi developed a critical heart condition in May 2021. The authorities of Urmia Prison did not allow her to be hospitalized in the prison’s clinic. Nor did they grant her a medical leave.
Somayyeh Qoraishi is from Urmia. She was arrested in December 2019 for supporting the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran and sentenced to five years in prison.
