Remarks by Dominique Attias , President of European Law Society Federation
March 27, 2021 – An online conference was held to mark the Iranian New Year in solidarity with the people of Iran. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), addressed the conference from her residence in Paris. Dozens of France’s elected officials and personalities joined the conference.
Speakers and participants included Ms. Dominique Attias , President of European Law Society Federation as of March 2021. She was vice-batonniere of Paris from January 2016 and first woman to hold this position. Following are the text of remarks by Dominique AttiasAttias in solidarity with the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance:
Happy New Year!
A beautiful year. A very beautiful year to all of you. And I start with all of you, because I met you a number of years ago at the town hall of the 1st district of Paris to commemorate that dreadful massacre of 1988. And my first thoughts go to these mothers, fathers and brothers. To those parents who have lost theirs.
We will never abandon you.
You will win, because they are waiting for you. They are waiting for you to honor them, to find them.
Mrs. Rajavi will be president. The future in Iran belongs to women. The 21st century will be female or it will not be. Iran deserves the rule of law.
Every day, women are hanged, children are hanged, while Iran has signed the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
You will win!
I am now President of the European Bars Federation. But I know that behind me, the 800,000 lawyers who make up the 250 Bars of the Council of Europe, that I represent, are also here to tell you: You will win!
Gentlemen who are next to these women, these women of value, when you have won and maybe this year, why not, things sometimes go faster.
And before me, some have said what is happening, which the media do not say. We know that you have the people behind you.
And gentlemen, as I said, leave the power to women. All these mullahs, all these old bloodthirsty bearded men, who do not like their youth, who hate women, have led Iran to its ruin.
Mrs. Rajavi, you are a determined woman and when you come to power, I know, we know that a new Iran will be born.
Today, there are women in prison who are whipped, lawyers who are martyred. We will never abandon them. We will always be there on your side. You have our valuable colleagues who are there to defend you.
We will go, as some have said, with you to Iran to celebrate the victory. Not your victory, but the victory of this wonderful people who are only waiting for one thing: to finally live, to open up.
The youth who only hope for peace, serenity, future, to dream of a better world.
You embody it Mrs. Rajavi. The Women’s Committee of the NCRI also embodies this future. Thank you for all that you do and I, we, will always be by your side.
