Protests flared across Iran in at least 65 cities over shock fuel price hike.
The price of fuel was tripled by the Iranian regime at midnight Thursday which instantly sparked protests in southern Iran.
Young people and women have been actively participating in these protests in various cities.
People turned off their cars in the middle of Hakim highway in Tehran as a show of protest. A brave woman started chanting “death to the dictator” and was followed in solidarity with other people present in the scene.
In Bushehr, women widely participated in the protests over fuel price hike. Protesters shouted, “Iranians, rise up and show your courage.”
In Mashhad, Iran’s second largest populated city, women and youth chanted “death to the dictator.” Anti-riot forces attacked people’s cars and broke their window shields.
Parvaneh Salahshouri, a member of the mullahs’ Parliament, revealed that the decision to increase the price of fuel had been decided in the meeting of the heads of the three branches. (The state-run ILNA news agency – November 16, 2019)
During the protests over the fuel price hike, in many cities people turned off their cars and blocked the roads as an act of protest. Young people expressed their fury by torching dozens of banks and gas stations. They also chanted slogans against Rouhani, calling him to account for the inflation and high prices.
The Revolutionary Guards have so far shot eight people to their deaths in these protests.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, expressed her sympathies to the families of the courageous young men who gave their lives in Sirjan and Behbahan, and wished for quick recovery of the wounded. She called on the nation to rise up in support of the protests.
