Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran
Remarks at IWD conference on “Women Force for Change, Iran Uprising and Women’s Role”
Paris – February 17, 2018
Dear friends and sisters, welcome!
My name is Sarvnaz Chitsaz and I am the Chair of the NCRI Women’s Committee.
I’d like to thank you all for your presence and I am very glad to see each and every one of you attending this meeting on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
Allow me to congratulate all women in Iran and around the world on the International Women’s Day, particularly our dear guests here today who have come from various countries and continents.
This year, in anticipation of March 8, Iranian women are at the forefront of an uprising which heralds the prospects of democracy in Iran, and peace and security in the Middle East.
Iranian women rose with laudable courage, alongside their brothers, against a dictatorship that has ruled our country over the past four decades, a misogynist regime which has terrorized not only Iranian people but a vast part of the region as well.
My greetings to all the brave Iranian women and girls whom the world has had a chance to witness in the recent uprising. We are proud of each and every one of you.
Friends, I must emphasize that your work for equality throughout the world has a profound impact on the struggle of Iranian women against extremism and fundamentalism. I witness this on a daily basis in the women’s struggle for freedom and equality in Iran.
Today, your support is much more urgent and effective for the Iranian people, especially women for the overthrow of the regime.
Thank you once again for being here, for your support, and I wish you and all the women of the world progress, parity, and solidarity.
