A number of human rights’ activists gathered in protest in front of the mullahs’ parliament on October 2, 2017 in positive response to the call by the mother of prisoner of conscience, Soheil Arabi. They called for the release of Soheil Arabi and other political prisoners.
In an audio file circulated on the internet, Mrs. Farangis Mazloum, Soheil Arabi’s mother, said, “I am reaching out for your support. Soheil’s only crime was expressing his beliefs on his personal page (in the social networks). It has been four years that he is being tried, tortured and issued death sentences. His family were not made exception. I have had three heart attacks and a heart surgery. My only dream is to be able to hug my son once more… I am going to the Parliament on Monday to seek justice. I urge you not to leave your brother alone.”
Referring to other political prisoners, she said, “All of those who are detained there innocently must be freed.”
Soheil Arabi has been on hunger strike for 40 days in protest to the officials’ failure to attend to his lawful demands. For the past ten days, he has gone on dry hunger strike, refusing even water.
