Dozens of young women and men were arrested in roundups in the cities of Qom and Abadan within two days for participating in private parties.
45 men and women were arrested in the security forces’ raid in Qom, and 36 young men and women were arrested in Abadan. A number of the detainees are still in custody. No information was available on their identities. (The state-run ROKNA news agency – May 1, 2017)

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
