The commander of the State Security Force reiterated the need for suppressive patrols to impose more restrictions on women.
Pointing to the law adopted by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution on women’s veiling, Hossein Ashtari said: “According to this law, 26 organizations are responsible and the SCCR has 31 ratifications on hijab and virtue. SSF is one of these organizations with 21 tasks.”
Despite making thousands of arrests every day and imposing numerous restrictions on women’s attire, Ashtari admitted, “We have not fulfilled even 10% of our duties.”
“The culture of veiling and virtue must start in the family and pursued in the school, university and other systems. SSF must interfere in the last stage,” he added.
