Iran: Baha’i woman returns to prison

Saba Golshan, an Iranian Baha’i who was on temporary leave from prison to undergo treatment for her illness, returned to Isfahan’s prison on February 8 after her leave was not extended. Golshan was arrested in April 2015.

The sentences of Ms. Golshan and a number of other individuals arrested along with her are:

 

Saba Golshan (Isfahan, central Iran): 4 years imprisonment, 1 year suspended jail

Nategheh Na’imi, Shabnam Mottahed, Fariba Ashtari (Yazd, central Iran), Naghme Farabi (Isfahan): 2 years imprisonment, 1 year suspended jail

Farah Baghi, A’zam Mottahari, Farahnaz Methaghiyan (Yazd), Azar Toluie (Poor Khorsand), Tahereh Rouhani, Vida Haghighi (Isfahan): 1 year imprisonment and 1 year suspended jail.

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
