Fatemeh Salbehi, a young woman who had been arrested at the age of 17 on the charge of murdering her husband was executed at dawn on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.
It was expected that Ms. Salbehi be exonerated from execution because of being under age at the time of committing the crime.
Fatemeh Salbehi was born in 1991. She was married at the age of 16 to a 30-year-old man whom she had not met before. In March 2009, her husband was found dead in the house and she was arrested as suspect.
International human rights organizations, including Amnesty International had called for halt to her execution.
