Ms. Fatemeh Ekhtessari and her husband, Mehdi Moussavi, have been sentenced to 9 and 11.5 years imprisonment and 99 lashes of the whip, according to their lawyer’s announcement on October 12, 2015.
They are charged with “insulting the sanctities”, a charge that they deny, and with “anti-government propaganda”, “publication of immoral images on the internet” as well as kissing and shaking hands with people who are not permitted religiously.
Ms. Ekhtessari and her husband were arrested on December 8, 2014, and held over one month in Evin’s 2A Cellblock under supervision of the Revolutionary Guards Corps.
