On the morning of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Kafieh Qobadzadeh, a female prisoner, was executed in Shiraz Central Prison, known as Adelabad.
Kafieh Qobadzadeh, originally from Isfahan, had spent seven years on death row. She was only 23 years old at the time of her arrest, accused of killing her husband. Her husband was reportedly violent and constantly suspicious of her, which ultimately led to a confrontation ending in his death.
She was the second woman executed on Wednesday. On that same day, Nahid Hemmati was hanged in Nahavand Prison, located in Hamedan Province.
Since the beginning of the week, three women have been executed in Iran. On Monday, October 13, another woman named Zeinab Khodabandeh was hanged in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
With the execution of Kafieh Qobadzadeh, the number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2025 has reached 42, marking an unprecedented record in the execution of women in Iran. In the entire 2024, 34 women were executed across the country.
Iran, the world record holder in executing women
According to data recorded by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, at least 305 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
Many of the women executed by the Iranian regime are themselves victims of domestic violence and discriminatory family laws. A significant number have acted in self-defense.
In the Iranian calendar Year 1403, at least 38 women were executed in Iran, marking a disturbing 90% increase compared to the previous year.
In the 14.5 months since Masoud Pezeshkian took office, the clerical regime has executed more than 2,000 prisoners.
