A nurse died after a long battle with COVID-19 symptoms. Ms. Farmani lost her life following a longstanding career at the Tabriz Children’s Educational and Medical Center. The Coronavirus is spreading quickly, on a daily basis, in southern Khuzestan Province.
Tabriz is the capital of East Azerbaijan Province, where the COVID-related death toll has risen to 1,465 as of May 13, 2020.
“80 Gilani education staff have died of the Coronavirus,” announced the Education Director of northern Gilan Province, as schools were reopening.
The head of Dezful Hospital in Khuzestan Province said that thus far, 40 personnel and medical staff of Dezful Grand Hospital have been infected with the Coronavirus.
The situation in Khuzestan province is also very critical.
Regime experts and media outlets in various provinces are continuing to report new COVID-19 cases. On Wednesday night, May 13, 2020, official state television in Khuzestan Province said, “The Coronavirus bomb exploded today in Khuzestan. The numbers are extraordinary: 550 people across Khuzestan Province contracted the virus in just one day.”
The Mehr news agency, affiliated to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security, wrote on Friday, May 15, 2020, “Khuzestan rose from the bottom of the table to second place today with regard to the Coronavirus epidemic. It seems they are taking a long step to reach first place… water shortages in Khuzestan Province have added insult to injury…”
“All offices, banks, and non-essential stores in 16 cities across Khuzestan Province will be closed until Monday, May 18, to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. This closure includes the cities of Ahvaz, Karoun, Bavey, Ramhormoz, Masjid Soleiman, Haftkal, Hamidiyeh, Dasht-e Azadegan, Mahshahr, Hendijan, Dezful, Shoush, Shoushtar, Gatvand, Abadan, and Khorramshahr – all closed until Monday,” said the Governor of Khuzestan Province, according to a report wired on Saturday by the state-run ISNA news agency (The state-run ISNA news agency – May 16, 2020).
“Conditions in Khuzestan are critical with regard to the number of Coronavirus cases,” said Ghasem Saedi, a member of the regime’s Majlis (parliament) representing the city of Dashte Azadegan in Khuzestan Province, according to a report wired on Thursday by the Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). “Unfortunately, the Health Ministry has provided only promises in their support for Khuzestan, and we have yet to see the Ministry taking any practical measures. We don’t have the fabric to make new masks, and the government is not providing us any fabric either,” he added (The state-run Fars news agency – May 14, 2020).
According to the Iranian Resistance, as of Monday, May 18, 2020, the death toll of Coronavirus victims in 319 cities is more than 42600.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran announced that the death toll from the Coronavirus in Khuzestan Province had reached at least 2,845 as of May 17.
