Ms. Ruža Tomašić, member of the European Parliament from Croatia, sent an audio message of solidarity to the women of Iran on March 26, 2020, praising their role in the freedom movement in Iran. Following is the text of her message:
Dear friends,
Since I’m in isolation and I’m not allowed to go anywhere, I still want to wish you a happy New Year.
It has been more than four decades that you have suffered from a religious fundamentalist regime.
What is very striking to me is that despite all difficulties and challenges especially now, during this Covid-19 pandemic, you have not given up your resistance and you keep paying a heavy price with your beliefs to bring democracy to your country.
I’m particularly impressed by the role women play in the freedom movement in Iran. They are often seen leading many of the protests. This reflects the prominent role women play in the resistance movement which in fact has been led by a brave and resolute woman, Maryam Rajavi.
I’m very optimistic and sincerely believe that your tireless efforts will soon bring down the inhuman and misogynist rule of the mullahs.
I wish you all safety and prosperity with the arrival of spring and the Iranian New Year that freedom and democracy will come to your country, very, very soon.
Thank you
