The Iranian regime’s governor of Quds City admitted that she had ordered security guards of the Governorate building to shoot on protesters.
In an interview with the state-run Iran daily, tied to the official IRNA news agency, Layla Vaseqi, the governor of Quds City (Qal’eh Hassan Khan), said she had ordered her forces to open fire on protesters even before the State Security Force gives the order to shoot.
Between eight to ten people have been reported killed in the protests in Quds City.
Layla Vaseqi said her security guards had retreated in the face of protesters who attacked the governorate’s building in Quds City, but they opened fire on protesters who had entered the building because she had ordered them to do so.
In the interview with Iran daily, on December 1, 2019, Layla Vaseqi, governor of Quds City, said:
There were no more than five or six people here. Instead of standing in front of the door, when they saw the angry crowd advancing, they became terrified and stepped back and stood in front of the building’s door.
(The crowd) broke in. As you saw, they opened their shirts and said, shoot if you can.
They knew the State Security Force had not (issued shooting order), but we had. I had ordered them to shoot anyone who enters the governorate building.
More interesting is that since morning that day, I had stressed in text message to people, I had told them not to mix in with the rioters. These people are plunderers. They are not protesting the fuel ration. I warned them that they should not mix with them.
Q: Had you clarified that your forces had the order to shoot?
Vaseqi: Yes, I said it twice (in the text messages). The second time I said that there is a possibility of shooting.
