Sarveh Rahimi, 15, from Baneh (western Iran), hanged herself on Sunday, June 3, 2018, and took her own life. The teenage girl lived in Farhangian neighborhood in Baneh, one of the cities of the Iranian Kurdistan.
Two sisters, 30 and 35, also committed suicide in Marivan, Iranian Kurdistan, on May 31, 2018.
The number of suicides has increased since March 2018, the beginning of the Iranian new year, with 11 women committing suicide in May, alone. Experts say despair, unemployment, poverty, economic problems, and numerous restrictions for women are among the most important reasons for the high rate of suicide among women in Iran.
