Sheida Abedi was arrested by intelligence agents at 7 am on Monday, October 21, 2017, at her home in Birjand, northwestern Iran.
The intelligence agents thoroughly searched Ms. Abedi’s residence, after arresting this 26-year-old woman of Bahaii faith.
Ten other Bahaiis have also been detained over the past week in the cities of Rasht, northern Iran, and Kermanshah in the west.

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
