Despite suffering from gall bladder stones and kidney infection, Evin political prisoner Atena Daemi has been denied receiving treatment and the Iranian judiciary has prevented her from referring to a city hospital.
A source close to the Daemi family said, “The Daemi family persistently followed up Atena’s treatment and received the Prosecutor’s agreement to have Atena examined by the Coroner’s Office. But despite confirmation of kidney infection and gall bladder stone, the Coroner’s Office did not approve her transfer to any hospital outside the prison.”
The source added, “Evin Prison officials have not only failed to provide adequate treatment and medical care for Atena, but she has been accused of making false pretenses of illness. They have also filed complaints against her accusing her of mistreatment of prison guards during her hunger strike and referral to the dispensary.”
