President of the Union of Modern and Traditional Café Owners reiterated that women’s entry to ordinary cafés is illegal.
He also emphasized that modern and traditional cafés are not authorized to offer hookahs to women.
Mohsen Nazari acknowledged that there is nothing illegal about women smoking hookahs, but added: I must emphasize that in modern cafés, not only it is illegal to offer hookahs to women, but women’s entry to these cafés is forbidden altogether and this will be harshly dealt with. As for traditional cafés, they are not authorized to offer hookahs to women otherwise they will be dealt with. (The state-run Asriran.ir website, September 17, 2016)
