Iran: Bahaii women accused of acting against national security

Four Baha’ii citizens were summoned to the Court of Isfahan on Wednesday morning, September 7, 2016, to be informed of their charges.

They included two women, Ms. Yeganeh Agahi and Ms. Parvin Nik Ayeen.

Ms. Agahi and Ms. Nik Ayeen were charged with membership in the illegal organization of Bahaiis and acting against national security.

Their bail bonds were increased from 400m to 1.2 billion toumans. The defendants were deprived of access to lawyer and none of their family members were allowed to attend the trial with them.

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
