A parliamentary deputy announced conditions for women’s presence in sports stadiums in a bid to receive consent of religious authorities and clergies.
In a discussion on women’s entrance to sports stadiums as spectators, Ali Motahhari said, “Sharia laws must be observed. For example, if women’s attendance does not cause problems for certain games, then there is need to make certain preparations like separating women’s entrances and exits, allocating their seats to a specific section separate from men, and take a series of similar measures.”
Motahhari added, “We need to attract the consent of senior clergies because they might not agree.”
Women are presently forbidden from entering sports stadiums to watch the games.
