A welfare expert of women and family affairs in Zanjan Province (northwestern Iran) announced there are 2228 single-parent women under the welfare support organization.
Layla Mahmoudi said, “32.5 percent of those women have no guardians and 41 percent are women who have guardians but have become the breadwinners because their husbands are now disabled. The poverty rate of single-parent women shows that women still have higher poverty rate compared to men.”
