Call for Justice Movement: Justice for the Victims of the 1988 Massacre
In the summer of 1988, by order of Khomeini, more than 30,000 political prisoners—none of whom had been sentenced to death and most of whom had already completed their prison terms—were executed within a few months simply for refusing to renounce their beliefs. They were secretly buried in mass graves, in locations that mostly remain unknown to this day.
In some prisons, female prisoners and young girls who put up a remarkable resistance were brutally massacred, to the extent that not a single female prisoner was left alive in those facilities after the slaughter.
The Call for Justice Movement is a genuine, comprehensive, and transnational movement. Rooted in the shared experience of victims and activists, it has transformed into an international crusade for truth and justice. This movement knows no geographical boundaries and will continue until justice is served and both the perpetrators and masterminds are held accountable.
We are actively participating in this movement. By gathering documents and evidence, recording the testimonies of families and witnesses, organizing international exhibitions and rallies, arranging meetings with human rights figures and conscientious individuals, and raising global awareness about the atrocities of the 1988 massacre, we ensure that the call for justice resonates throughout the world.
Objectives of the Call for Justice Movement:
- Exposing the complete identities of all the perpetrators and masterminds of the massacre.
- Gathering the testimonies and memories of families and witnesses, to record them in history and establish precise documentation against the regime’s crimes.
- Organizing international exhibitions, rallies, and campaigns across Europe, North America, and Australia to amplify the voices of the victims to the world.
- Actively collaborating with human rights organizations, international bodies, and prominent global figures, while calling upon all human rights defenders to support the Iranian people’s demand to put the regime’s leaders on trial.
- Pressuring the international community to end four decades of impunity for the regime’s leaders, refer the case of human rights violations in Iran—particularly the executions of the 1980s and the 1988 massacre—to the United Nations Security Council, and establish an international fact-finding mission to investigate these crimes.
- Preserving the memory and legacy of the victims and expanding global awareness, ensuring that justice is not only served but also permanently etched into the global conscience.
