Campaign for the Freedom of Female Political Prisoners in Iran

In Iran, there are women who have been imprisoned simply for speaking the truth, merely for being a “woman.” For protesting. For defending their rights. For refusing to stay silent. They are freedom fighters. They are the voice that the misogynistic regime of the mullahs has tried to silence—yet their voices have risen higher than ever, because they are the “voice of the oppressed.”

Many of these chained women are victims of misogynistic laws and arbitrary, non-transparent judicial processes, where from the very first line, a “woman” is treated as a man’s slave and a second-class citizen, to the point where even her right to self-defense is stripped away.

They are held in conditions plagued by severe shortages of medical facilities, a complete lack of proper healthcare, and unhygienic environments. They are kept in abandoned or dilapidated prisons lacking minimal infrastructure, subjected to physical and psychological torture designed to strip them of their humanity and force them into submission under the laws of the Velayat-e Faqih regime.

While Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that freedom of thought and expression is the right of every human being, many women in Iran face arrest, unfair trials, and years of imprisonment for this very basic right.
