Shahrbanoo Asadi, Highschool Teacher, Dismissed from Education Ministry

In a controversial ruling, the Administrative Court of Justice upheld the dismissal of Shahrbanoo Asadi, a Persian language and literature teacher in high schools of District 2 of the Department of Education in Rasht.

Shahrbanoo Asadi, a well-known teachers’ union activist, has been formally barred from continuing her service in the Department of Education following the court’s approval of the Education Ministry’s Selection Board decision in Branch 28 of the appeals court.

The ruling comes despite a previous decision by the same court in favor of Asadi, when it had overturned the Selection Board’s initial rejection of her employment due to “lack of legal justification and insufficient evidence.” Nevertheless, the Selection Board once again disqualified her on professional grounds and insisted on enforcing her expulsion.

The clerical regime’s Ministry of Education, rather than addressing teachers’ legitimate demands, continues to suppress dissenting voices within the institution through administrative and security-driven measures such as this one.
