Another woman hanged in Iran after 8 years of imprisonment.
The clerical regime hanged yet another woman in the Prison of Taybad in eastern Iran on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
Taybad is located in Razavi Khorasan Province in eastern Iran.
Nafiseh Pakmehr had been imprisoned for 8 years on death row before being hanged.
This execution has not been announced by official authorities or the state media in Iran as this news is being published.
This is the 116th woman hanged in Iran since Hassan Rouhani became the mullahs’ president in summer 2013.
The clerical regime in Iran has recently stepped up execution of women.
Maryam Karimi was hanged on March 13, in the Prison of Lakan in Rasht;
Zahra Esma’ili, 42 with two children, was hanged on February 17, at Gohardasht (a.k.a. Rajaiishahr) Prison in Karaj;
An unidentified 23-year-old woman was executed in the Prison of Ardabil on February 8, 2021.
Most convicted women are victims of domestic violence and committed murder in self-defense. The Iranian Judiciary, however, does not categorize deliberate murders, and punishes them with the death penalty regardless of the motivation and reason.
Iran holds the record of the world’s top executioner with the highest number of citizens executed per capita. It is also the world’s top executioner of women. The executions are grossly unfair.
More than 4300 people have been executed in Iran during Rouhani’s tenure. As of now, they include 116 women.
The actual number of executions and particularly the execution of women is much higher. The clerical regime carries out most executions in secret and out of the public eye. No witnesses are present at the time of execution but those who carry them out.
The Iranian regime open-handedly uses the death penalty as a form of punishment. In many cases and in a discriminatory manner this punishment is carried out against the religious and ethnic minorities, political dissidents, and women.
